The glowing yellow dress worn by an R&B superstar at this year’s Met Gala was made possible because of an online marketplace.
SZA revealed that her 2026 Met Gala gown was fashioned from fabric that was entirely sourced on eBay.
“This entire look is made with reworked pieces purchased on eBay,” the Grammy Award winner said in an interview, per Billboard. “This is like my ethereal body. This is how I see myself.”
SZA hit the red carpet in a vibrant yellow dress that featured shades of ochre, marigold, corn and golden flax. The gown included a corset, structured skirt and a long train in several shades of yellow. The “Saturn” singer also donned a jeweled floral headpiece.
SZA said her look represented “the divine feminine,” adding, “It just wanted to express joy.”
Designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla told Vogue, “We worked with a vintage dealer who sourced over a hundred yards of yellow fabrics for us in various materials — tulle, taffeta, silk faille, and beadwork on lace,” to bring the outfit to life.
The designer felt that the look “aligned with SZA’s spontaneity and love of the natural world. Her affinity for moths, butterflies, and other insects, alongside her world travels and [interest in ] specific deities.”
While showing off the crystals incorporated into her outfit, SZA said, “I just love a character and I love playing and I love attention,” according to Billboard.
“I just love expressing our culture. And I just love celebrating all cultures,” the singer added.
