Get ready for a big dose of ’80s nostalgia! St. Elmo’s Fire turns 40 years old, and next month, the iconic romance comedy is coming back to theaters.
St. Elmo’s Fire is one of the key movies from that era. It features a cast made up of the “Brat Pack,” with stars including Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Emilio Estevez,Ally Sheedy, and Judd Nelson. All were big-screen powerhouses in the ’80s, dominating teen dramas, coming-of-age comedies, and the pop culture conversation of the decade.
Sony Pictures shared a message about the upcoming walk down memory lane with a movie poster from St. Elmo’s Fire. In the caption, they wrote, “Your fave ‘80s crew is back on the big screen. Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of St. Elmo’s Fire, newly restored in 4K and back in select theatres starting October 17th.”

The response to this 40th anniversary theater re-release has fans of ’80s flicks in their feelings. Some can’t believe 40 years has come and gone already since this era of film, and others are just ready to relive an old classic.

The ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ Cast has Enjoyed Long and Successful Careers
Many members of the Brat Pack are still actively working in TV and film, including Lowe, who stars in the FOX hit, 9-1-1 Lone Star. He has two more projects in the works, the films The Third Planet and The Musical.
Moore also made her mark after starring in the ’80s rom-com. She went on to star in blockbusters like G.I. Jane, Indecent Proposal, and Ghost. Moore will return to the Paramount+ hit Landman for Season 2.
Nelson didn’t exactly keep a low profile. He played the yuppie in St. Elmo’s Fire and the rebel in The Breakfast Club. Nelson has remained busy in Hollywood with 130 acting credits to his name and is currently working on a film, In-Security, which is currently in production.
Estevez is working on The Way: Chapter 2 and Young Guns: Dead or Alive, while Sheedy stars in the upcoming By the Roots.
