Robert Pattinson is taking on a new role as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen in his latest movie.
A24 has released a trailer for Primetime, which sees Pattinson, 40, portray Hansen, now 66, at the height of To Catch a Predator’s popularity in the mid-2000s.
“In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history,” reads a short synopsis for the movie.
The movie’s trailer shows Pattinson’s character asking himself how the people portrayed on To Catch a Predator — a show that featured Hansen confronting adult men who believed they were meeting up with a minor for sex — would have behaved in these scenarios if they were not sting operations. The movie appears to follow Hansen engaging in a confrontation with a character portrayed by Skyler Gisondo.
Primetime also costars Merritt Wever, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine and singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers in her debut film acting performance. Bridgers, 31, previously appeared on the big screen as herself in the 2024 A24 release I Saw the TV Glow.

Hansen’s To Catch a Predator originally ran for 20 episodes that aired on NBC between 2004 and 2007. The series was canceled in 2008.
Hansen has produced spiritual successors to To Catch a Predator, including the news magazine Crime Watch Daily and his currently running Takedown with Chris Hansen on TruBlu.
Primetime is one of several movies Pattinson has starred in over the last year. He and Jennifer Lawrence led last fall’s drama Die My Love, and he costarred with Zendaya in the dark wedding-themed comedy The Drama in April. In July, Pattinson appears among The Odyssey’s large ensemble cast, and he will portray the villain in Timothée Chalamet’s Dune: Part Three in December.
