Just more than a week after he canceled the rest of his 2025 tour to deal with health issues, legendary rock guitarist Ace Frehley has died.
He was 74.
His family announced his death with a statement.
“We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” it read per Variety. “In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others.
“The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
The rocker, known best for his run with KISS, recently canceled his remaining 2025 tour dates after suffering what were described as “minor injuries” in a fall at his home.
“Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates,” a statement on his X account read.
Blabbermouth.net reported that the rock star was forced to pull out of the Antelope Valley Fair on doctor’s orders that he avoid traveling so that he could better heal from his injuries.
The outlet reported that Frehley had been touring with a backing band that includes Ryan Spencer on bass, Jeremy Asbrock on guitar and Scot Coogan on drums.
The site said he also told SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk,” that he was working on “Origins Vol. 3” which is his sequel to his 2016 and 2020 collections of cover songs that inspired him.
