Rock star legend Rod Stewart has seemingly revealed his opinions of President Donald Trump in a scathing new Instagram post, and fans are fuming.
The 80-year-old Maggie May singer took to his Instagram on August 28 to share a message bashing the U.K.’s Liberal Democrat leader, Ed Davey, for boycotting Trump’s state banquet next month over accusations the president has not done what he can to end the “horrifying” war in Gaza.
He wrote, “Well done Sir Ed Davey for snubbing an invitation from Buckingham Palace to meet the only man that could put an end to the war in the Ukraine… Donald Trump.” He signed off his message with, “Sir Rod Stewart CBE.”
In the comments section of his post, Stewart was bashed for spouting his political opinions and seemingly throwing Trump support with one person writing, “Yet another rock hero from my childhood showing his true colors. Ugh. I love your music, but I can’t get behind listening to it anymore with viewpoints such as this.”
Another added, “Omg unfollowing IMMEDIATELY. What a disappointment. Also deleting songs from my iTunes.”
A third fumed, “Wait, what??? Rod is a Trump guy???” A fourth questioned, “What am I reading here??” Another said, “Why? Please tell me that your account has been hacked. Please!”
Another ant-Trump fan wrote, “God, please tell me he is being sarcastic,” as yet another penned, “Rod Stewart as a Trumper wasn’t on my Bingo card.”
However, Stewart also had Trump supporters commend his comments, with one person writing, “Yes! Rod Stewart recognizes the greatness of Donald Trump!”
Another added, “Liked Rod before, now I like even more,” as a third said, “Well said good sir! Texas is with you.” Yet another praised, “LOVE ROD AND TRUMP.”
After Davey announced his boycott, the Tories accused him of “deep disrespect” to the King.

Davey said he and his wife Emily had “spent all summer thinking about this” and had “prayed about it,” before deciding it was “the one way” to send a message to both Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
He said, “There is no honour like an invitation from the King, and not to accept his invitation goes against all of our instincts.
“But I fear we could have a situation where Donald Trump comes to our country, is honoured with a lavish dinner at one of our finest palaces, yet no one reminds him that he has the power to stop the horrifying starvation and death in Gaza and get the hostages released.
“If Donald Trump tells Benjamin Netanyahu to stop this, it ends tomorrow. If Donald Trump uses his influence over Qatar and the other Gulf states that Hamas relies on, all the hostages could come home tomorrow.”
Stewart’s apparent support of Trump comes after he admitted that he no longer views the president as a friend, despite their past close relationship and being neighbors.
In June, the music icon stated that Trump has “changed” since his move into the White House, leading to Stewart’s diminished admiration for him.
In a conversation with Radio Times, the Do Ya Think I’m Sexy singer spoke candidly about his previous friendship with Trump.
He made a seven-word jab, stating, “I’m not a great fan of Trump.” He added, “I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house,” indicating their closeness in Florida.
Stewart added, “I live literally half a mile away… We’re both on the beach. I used to attend his Christmas parties. He’s always been a bit of a man’s man. I liked him for that, but he didn’t, as far as I’m concerned, treat women very well. But since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.”
He then revealed that one deal breaker has led him to distance himself from the politician, declaring that he “can’t count him as a friend anymore.”
He further explained, “As long as he’s selling arms to the Israelis – and he still is. How’s that war ever gonna stop?”
