Nope, Rosie O’Donnell will NOT be taking part in the next season of Dancing With the Stars — no matter how many people start rumors about it.
The comedian settled the question once and for all in a hilarious new Instagram post consisting of an AI-generated fake news headline and picture, in which O’Donnell can be seen sporting some unfortunate gray curls and a fitted green sequined dress the likes of which often feature on the dancing competition.
The “headline” read, “Rosie O’Donnell, 63, Makes ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Debut,” while the tagline read, “She returns to the U.S. in an epic comeback!”

O’Donnell captioned the post, “This made me laugh- reminds me to never get a perm !!! completely untrue but funny 😁.”
“I love that you live rent-free in people’s heads,” one person commented.
“No one talks about perm trauma, but it’s real, and it runs deep. 💙😁,” quipped someone else.
Others had suggestions for other TV shows they thought O’Donnell should join.
“Hey @rosie, have u seen the show The Traitors @thetraitorsus? There are many versions, including the Traitors Ireland! I think you’d be great on that show, trying to find some Traitors!” one fan suggested.
Meanwhile, someone else joked, “I heard ya joined Riverdance 😂,” referring to a show which features traditional Irish dancing.

The former The View star has been living in Ireland since early 2025 for political and safety reasons.
“I’ve never had one moment where I have regretted moving here,” she said in April of last year (via People).
However, that doesn’t mean that she didn’t have mixed feelings about living abroad. “You know, I’m happy. [My child] Clay is happy,” she continued. “I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home, and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country. When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”

Though she’s not moving back to the U.S. any time soon, O’Donnell still paid a visit to her loved ones.
“I was recently home for two weeks, and I did not really tell anyone,” she admitted on SiriusXM’s Cuomo Mornings (via Entertainment Weekly). “I just went to see my family. I wanted to see how hard it would be for me to get in and out of the country. I wanted to feel what it felt like. I wanted to hold my children again. And I hadn’t been home in over a year.”
The Dancing With the Stars season 35 casting has yet to be announced. Robert Irwin and his dance partner, Witney Carson, won the previous season, competing alongside stars including Alix Earle, Dylan Efron, Jordan Chiles and Danielle Fishel, per E! News.
