ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WJFW) — Amid the surge in popularity of driving ranges and golf simulators continues to rise, a game that was once out of reach for many has become more accessible.
They are a cheaper alternative to a country club membership; a good substitute for a rained-out tee time. They are also increasingly meshing golf and an atmosphere similar to a sports bar.
Shane Saari and his team at 4 Seasons Golf in Wausau are the latest ones looking to integrate golf and entertainment.
“You know, it’s not only a golf venue but an entertainment venue as well,” Saari said. “This is for all ages, all skill levels. It’s not just golf-oriented. You can come out here purely just for entertainment as well…date night. Grab some buddies, come on out for some drinks and food. It really reaches anyone.”
The technology allows what have traditionally been known as videogames to become golf (as Saari shows in the video version of this story). You can also use a simulator to play some of the world’s most renowned courses. For more experienced golfers who are serious about improving their swing, 4 Seasons might have what you’re looking for.
“If they download the app itself, it actually translates straight to their phone,” Saari said. “So, they can have everything with them at all times. We’ve got people who do lessons. So, from the golfer’s standpoint, this is such a great practice facility because of the amount of data that you get along with it.”
Saari added that TV’s will soon be installed outside as well…making it the perfect place to work on your swing while you watch the game.
“Come Fall of the year, we’re going to get this all amped up so that people can come watch Packer games and golf at the same time.”
