The Royals have never looked closer to becoming just another business

OPINION BY JASMINE CAREY

In what has already been a massively difficult few months for the monarchy, today will be yet another blow for King Charles. Over the last weeks and months, the monarch has had to deal with what probably feels like struggle after struggle, with almost all of it to do with his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Not only has he had to deal with Andrew’s appearance in the Epstein files, but he has also had to face his disgraced brother being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. While Andrew has been released under investigation, the arrest has made headlines for weeks, and his scandals are unlikely to leave the minds of the British public anytime soon, despite his repeated denials of wrongdoing.

The King, who is no doubt furious with his brother, has also faced heckles about the matter while trying to continue the duty he was born to do. This in itself must be difficult. However, while the monarch seems to have the motto of “keep calm and carry on”, today’s latest blow for the monarchy may be tough to accept.
