Rupert Grint, just like Daniel Radcliffe, also had some words of wisdom to share as they passed the baton of the beloved Harry Potter franchise to the new young actors.
In an interview with BBC News, Grint revealed that he wrote a letter to Alastair Stout, who will be taking on the role of beloved Ron Weasley in the reboot series – a role Grint played in the original films from 2001-2011.
“I wrote him a letter, before they started, passing the baton as it were,” he said. “It was really just wishing him all the best with it. I had so much fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has the same experience.”
“It’s quite strange to have the cycle happening again,” he added. “I’m really intrigued what it’s going to be like.”
A few days ago, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he, too, wrote a letter to Dominic McLaughlin, who is set to portray Harry Potter. The original titular star, while promoting his Broadway show on Good Morning America, expressed his enthusiasm about the reimagining of the fantasy world and wished the best of luck to the new star.
HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series also stars Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and more.
Directed by José María Pérez, the reboot is slated to premiere sometime in 2027.
