Ryan Paevey Is Back on ‘General Hospital’ — But Not How You Expect originally appeared on Parade.
It’s official: Fan-favorite Ryan Paevey is making his way back to ABC’s long-running sudser.
The former General Hospital star, 40, is returning to set this week, as Deadline confirmed, which is certainly coming as a delightful surprise for fanatics of the soap opera.
There is a catch as he makes a welcome return, however: Paevey’s beloved character, Det. Nathan West, was killed off in 2018.
It’s unclear, for now, what role Paevey will play in future episodes of the Daytime Emmy-winning show, which debuted back in 1963.
Paevey told Deadline that his return to GH started with a surprise text from Executive Producer Frank Valentini.
“We talked a bit and he asked would I consider returning for awhile, talking story, floated different story ideas involving different time commitments of me, and I thought if we’re going to do this we should really do it and surprise the fans with a meaty storyline,” Paevey told the outlet. “I was surprised by my excitement for a homecoming and reuniting with familiar faces after seven years. I still have my last call sheet from my final taping day on January 18, 2018, tacked up in my home office.”
Paevey begins filming this week, and fans will be able to see him on-screen in September.
Back in June, the dashing lad took to Instagram to hint at a possible return to acting — including GH, of course. “Got some irons in the fire on the big screen and the small screen that I’m hoping will enable me to share more stuff like this with you guys….a lot more. Get busy living right?” he wrote in the June 11 post.
After rising to prominence on GH, Paevey became a fixture on the Hallmark Channel. After starring in Unleashing Mr. Darcy (2016), he starred in over a dozen Hallmark originals, including Two Tickets to Paradise in 2022.
Paevey’s other TV credits include a guest role on the hit sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Outside of Hollywood, he designs jewelry through his Fortunate Wanderer brand, as Deadline noted.
