Ryan Reynolds Teases Potential Appearance in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ originally appeared on Parade.
For an actor well-known for his humorous quips, Ryan Reynolds has kept surprisingly quiet about the upcoming Avengers sequel, Doomsday.
As fans across the globe wonder which familiar faces from the MCU’s past might figure into the plot of the new Avengers epic, Reynolds has recently reignited the possibilty of his return for Marvel’s upcoming film.
Over on social media, the 48-year-old Deadpool star caused quite a stir when he posted an enigmatic picture on his Instagram page. The image in question specifically saw a red anarchy hastily drawn over The Avengers’ official team logo.
Perhaps more tellingly, the Instagram post has no official caption or comment from Reynolds, further hinting at the possibility of his return as the iconic Merc with a Mouth for the latest Avengers.
The last time Reynolds portrayed Deadpool came with 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which saw Reynolds’ and Hugh Jackman’s official debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively.
While there’s no official confirmation about Reynolds’ involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, it is always possible the post is instead referencing Doomsday’s immediate sequel, Secret Wars, planned for release on December 17, 2027.
Thus far, Avengers: Doomsday has racked up one of the lengthiest cast lists of any Marvel project to date, even when compared to the previous entries in series with 2012’s The Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War and Endgame.
To date, over two dozens actors have been announced to star in Avengers: Doomsday, including Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum and Robert Downey Jr.
The finished film will debut to theaters nationwide on December 28, 2026, with the project currently in its shooting production phase right now.
