Ryan Seacrest was invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding but had to decline.
He first confirmed his attendance before work prevented him from being there.
Seacrest said he was “torn” but “couldn’t have done both.”
Ryan Seacrest was one of the celebrities who was invited but did not attend the wedding of the century between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
The radio host and TV personality confirmed on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” Monday that he was, in fact, supposed to be in attendance at the Madison Square Garden nuptials on July 3 — but he had to cancel due to a work commitment.
“Travis and Taylor got married, and I had to keep a secret from you,” he told his cohosts Tanya Rad and Sisanie Villaclara. “I had to keep a secret. It was a confidential invitation to everybody that was invited. And so when you were doing your reports about the wedding, I was just on the inside screaming, on the outside very composed.”
He then revealed, “I RSVP’d to go, and then Disney hired me to do the Fourth of July 250 special on the 3rd and the 4th, and so I had to cancel.”
“You were one of the invited and not attended?” Rad stated. “Waste of an invite!” Villaclara added.
“It wasn’t a waste,” he rebutted. “I was actually really excited. I was kind of torn. I went through the minutes, I couldn’t have done both. And the actual wedding was in the afternoon. I went through the minutes! But I was so honored and thrilled to be invited.”
Seacrest even added that he ran into Swift and Kelce while out to dinner after he had initially confirmed his attendance, and they talked about “the event” in person.
“We talked about ‘the event,’ because we couldn’t say it out loud,” he explained. “She was like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be so much fun. We’re going to have the best time! It’s going to go late.’ I was like, ‘I cannot wait. I’m so excited.'”

Seacrest actually met Kelce for the first time while at the restaurant and got even more pumped to attend the star-studded wedding. But, after that ironic meetup, he had to cancel his plans to be at MSG on July 3.
“I RSVP’d ‘yes,’ I saw them a couple of weeks later to confirm, then I had to cancel. But I really had no choice, that’s part of my job at Disney, to do these things, so,” he explained.
Knowing Swift’s connection to Disney, it’s unfortunate they couldn’t let Seacrest off the hook. But alas, he wished the newlyweds well.
“We give them a shoutout on the show,” he concluded.

Swift and Kelce officially said “I do” around 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, July 3, with signs reading “JUST&T MARRIED!” popping up around the famous New York City arena.
Swift’s rep shared additional details with PEOPLE, including the reveal that Adam Sandler officiated the wedding and the couple wore Christian Dior Haute Couture by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections.
The statement added, “Taylor & Travis did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen. Instead, her brother Austin Swift served as Taylor’s Man of Honor and Jason Kelce was Travis’ Best Man. The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler.”
