Ladies and gentlemen, the McCartneys are coming to the big screen in Sam Mendes’ highly anticipated Beatles project. Earlier this year, it was announced that the British filmmaker would be directing four Beatles films, which are set to be released in theatres in April 2028. At the time, the makers noted that Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr, Joseph Quinn will star as George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson will play the role of Ringo Starr.
Now, after months of waiting, The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event has finally found its first non-Beatle character, and a four-time Academy Award nominee is set to join the project in a major role.
According to Deadline, Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan is set to join the cast of the much-awaited film and will portray the character of Linda McCartney. Although it is possible that Ronan would appear in all four films, the actor will feature prominently in the movie that will primarily focus on Paul McCartney. This is the second time Mescal and Ronan will be playing husband and wife on the big screen after portraying a married couple in the 2023 sci-fi movie Foe.

Linda McCartney worked as a photographer and met Paul for the first time in 1967 while working on an assignment in London. Two years later, in 1969, the couple got married in an intimate ceremony in Marylebone, London.
She was the first female photographer whose work appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in the late 1960s. After marrying Paul, she continued her work as a photographer and also accompanied Paul during his performances. Apart from being a photographer, Linda also played keyboard for Wings, a band created by Paul and Linda in 1971.
In 1995, Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer, and her health started getting worse. Three years after the diagnosis, in April 1998, the photojournalist passed away from the disease in Tucson, Arizona. She played a significant role in Paul’s life, especially after The Beatles broke up in 1970. Saoirse Ronan has already proven her worth as an actor and is probably the best actor to portray Linda McCartney.
However, it would be interesting to see how much she will be featured in a movie about the Beatles’ lead vocalist. Nevertheless, this casting news has made fans more excited about the project, and they can’t wait to see their favorite musicians on the big screen.
