Sarah Ferguson’s charity is on the brink of dissolution within weeks, following its announcement to halt operations indefinitely due to revelations from the Epstein Files.

The charity, known as Sarah’s Trust, was founded in 2020 with the aim of aiding vulnerable communities and supporting educational programmes globally. However, last month it was revealed that the charitable organisation would suspend its activities “for the foreseeable future” due to revelations concerning the former Prince Andrew.

The Charity Commission, which oversees charities in England and Wales, has now issued a “regulatory alert” for Sarah’s Trust. The alert states: “The Commission intends to dissolve this CIO three months from the date of this notice unless cause is shown to the contrary.”

The alert further adds: “Representations must be made to the Commission within three months.” Such alerts are typically issued in response to emerging threats such as cyber-attacks, new legal obligations or safeguarding failures.

Last year, it came to light that the charity had experienced a significant decline in donations. Income plummeted to a mere £31,000 in 2024, compared to nearly £150,000 in the preceding 12 months.

One trustee, renowned London heart surgeon Professor Ramzi Khamis, resigned just days after Ferguson was implicated in the initial batch of Epstein emails.

Ferguson spoke of a “turbulent” year and asserted that every child deserves the right to “thrive,” mere weeks before becoming embroiled in the Epstein scandal.

Seven charities severed ties with her as a patron or ambassador in September, following the emergence of a 2011 email in which she referred to sex offender Epstein as her “supreme friend” and appeared to express regret for her public condemnation of him.

Just days prior, Sarah’s Trust had submitted its annual report to the Charity Commission, in which she wrote: “It is with deep gratitude and renewed purpose that I share this year’s annual report.

“The past year has brought both personal challenge and profound clarity. My own journey with cancer has strengthened my belief in the importance of early detection, compassionate care, and the life-saving research being carried out by dedicated medical charities.

“It has deepened my resolve to stand beside those working to prevent, treat, and ultimately cure this disease-and to ensure that others facing similar battles are never alone.

“I am especially passionate about championing the potential of young people. Every young person deserves the chance to thrive, to discover their voice, and to grow into their fullest, most confident selves.

“To everyone who has stood with us, thank you. Together, we can continue to bring light where it is needed most.” She signed off the report as ‘The Duchess of York’.

She has since been stripped of her royal title, along with her ex-spouse, the former Prince Andrew. Regarding its objectives, Sarah’s Trust states: “Sarah has been committed to children’s and wellness causes with a focus on education.

“She has travelled the globe to see the projects first hand and has personally raised significant donations for causes that share her passion for change.”

The Express has reached out to the charity asking Sarah Ferguson for a comment.
