Sarah Michelle Gellar Had to Kick Party Crashers Out of Husband Freddie Prinze Jr.’s 50th Birthday Party

Sarah Michelle Gellar recently kicked out a few party crashers when she hosted her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.‘s 50th birthday celebrations.

Gellar, 48, dished on her husband’s birthday party during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, where she said that discovering that a small number of people had crashed the party was “really funny.”

“First, there were these two girls and they were in line for the photo booth and I was taking a picture with someone and, look, Freddie has some friends that I don’t know,” she said. “And there were some people on the invite list that had dates, so I was like, ‘Freddie, who’s this?’ and he was like, ‘I don’t know, those are your friends.’ I was like, ‘I didn’t invite friends.’ So I realized they were crashers, so I kicked them out.”

Gellar and Prinze Jr., who turned 50 on March 8, famously began dating in 2000, years after they met on the set of 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer. They married in 2002, and share daughter Charlotte, 16, and son Rocky, 13, the latter of whom Gellar said told her she would be “all over TikTok tomorrow [after] kicking these people out” at Prinze Jr.’s party.

“They took — I had these really nice gift bags,” Gellar explained on SiriusXM. “I had Parfums de Marly cologne for men, really nice perfume, and they left with the two bags. And so I had security go chase them down like, ‘I’m going to go get them back.’ “

“And then we had two more [party crashers],” the Buffy star continued. “And they’re like, ‘Oh, we’re friends with Jen.’ I was like, ‘There’s no Jen,’ and then they’re like, ‘Oh, we thought it was an open bar.’ I’m like, ‘No, you didn’t.’ “

When SiriusXM host Nicole Ryan asked Gellar whether she was polite to the party crashers, she added, “Look, I’m never rude, but I mean, I’m firm.”

Gellar recently shared two photos of herself and Prinze Jr. on her Instagram on her husband’s birthday. “Happy Milestone Bday @realfreddieprinze Age is simply the number of years the world has gotten to enjoy you,” she wrote in a caption to the post, alongside photo booth-style pictures of them with their arms wrapped around each other. “And no one has enjoyed you, more than me.”

Gellar recently opened up to PEOPLE about her and Prinze Jr.’s marriage in the magazine’s cover story as she touts her new movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, in theaters March 20.

“I always say I’m two people: I’m Sarah Michelle Gellar and I’m Sarah Prinze,” she said. “They’re different people.”
