Savannah Guthrie didn’t want to feel left out!
The 54-year-old Today show co-anchor appeared on the NBC morning show on Tuesday, July 7, wearing a blue collared dress. But halfway through the live broadcast, she began to realize that she was the odd woman out.
When the co-hosts sat down on the couch for the PopStart segment of the show, Carson Daly quickly noticed that Guthrie was the only woman not wearing yellow. Guthrie was flanked by Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones, who were all in yellow. Co-anchor Craig Melvin even had a yellow-and-blue-striped tie on. And when Steals and Deals correspondent Jill Martin showed up in yellow, Guthrie had had enough.
“You guys, did you really have a memo? I’m changing!” Guthrie declared ahead of the commercial break, getting up on the couch in faux frustration.
Bush Hager teased her close friend, saying, “I texted you, and you did not receive my text.”

But Guthrie wasn’t kidding, slipping into a yellow gingham dress before joining her co-hosts on the Today Show Plaza to greet visitors.
“I love that you just found this yellow dress,” Dreyer told her.
“I did, girls! I wanted to be with my ladies,” Guthrie replied.
Melvin was shocked by the quick switch, declaring, “Oh my God, you changed that fast!”

Bush Hager decided to make it a Today show staple, saying, “I told her on Tuesdays we wear yellow,” to which Guthrie replied, “We’re starting it today!”
Daly, who was wearing a suit and a blue tie, insisted he didn’t feel left out, but when they returned from the next commercial break, he was straightening a yellow tie.
“Nothing to see here,” Daly quipped, as Guthrie raved, “Now that is impressive.”
Daly revealed he’d borrowed Melvin’s tie, which the co-host happily handed over.

The morning show team discussed planning to coordinate more often, and Guthrie added that yellow is her “favorite color.”
In addition to being Guthrie’s favorite, the color yellow also became a symbol of support at the Today show. Amid her mother Nancy Guthrie’s ongoing abduction case, Savannah’s co-hosts and guests were spotted wearing yellow ribbons. They also filled Studio 1A with yellow flowers upon Savannah’s return to the show in April.
Nancy, 84, was taken from her Tucson, Ariz. home on Feb. 1, and the case remains ongoing with no suspects named.
