Scotty McCreery has spoken out following the deaths of his two grandmas, saying he feels “lucky” to have known them.
The country music singer took to Instagram last month to announce the shocking death of his grandmothers, Janet and Paquita, who died just hours apart.
He has now spoken out about the family tragedy in an exclusive interview with The Express US. “I feel lucky I got 31 years with them,” he told us.
Scotty continued, “But that was a tough day losing both of them at the same time.”
At the time, the singer shared on social media, “My heart is absolutely broken. Yesterday, both my Grandma Janet and my Grandma Paquita passed away.
Fans offered messages of support in the comments.
“So sorry, Scotty. Sending all my love to you and your family,” one person wrote, with a second saying, “All of my love to you and your family, Scotty. That’s heartbreaking.”
A third person commented, “Praying for all of your family. I’m so sorry, Scotty, that is unfathomable loss in one day. Sending all my love to you & your wonderful family!”
“Oh Scotty. I’m so very sorry. Prayers up for your family,” echoed a fourth, while a fifth commented, “Losing one is bad enough but to lose two on the same day, what a Loss for you and your Family ~ so many Prayers.”
