A secondhand furniture, home goods and clothing retailer is expanding into the Fairfax County market with a future location in Springfield.

Last week, Remix Market signed a five-year lease at 6909 Old Keene Mill Road, according to real estate firm Boosalis Properties, which represented the tenant in the transaction. The 6,250-square-foot standalone Springfield Executive Building has been vacant for years since MVC Couples Boutique, an adult entertainment store, closed in 2019.

The two-story building will be renovated into a retail and donation center. The business has not shared an exact opening date but is targeting later in 2026.

The location choice hits close to home for Remix Market franchise owner Mark Harrington, who grew up in Springfield.

“This project is about giving both the building and its contents a second life,” Harrington said. “We’re excited to create a space the community can enjoy.”

Remix Market partners with Harrington’s Junkluggers business to rescue furniture, clothing, and household goods that would otherwise end up in landfills. A portion of sales benefit Northern Virginia charity Sweet Julia Grace Foundation, which supports children with complex medical needs and their families.

While this is its first venture into Fairfax County, Remix Market has locations across the U.S., reaching as far as California and Washington state. Its first Northern Virginia location opened in Gainesville, and there are two others in Virginia.

“We’re excited to represent Remix Market as they continue expanding in Northern Virginia,” said James Murray of Boosalis Properties. “This is a high-traffic, high-visibility location and a great long-term fit for the corridor.”
