As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, enters its fourth month, the TV host is getting emotional about who’s been by her side through it all.
Back in February, fans of the Today show star were devastated to learn about Nancy’s disappearance. During the crisis, Savannah took time off work to focus on her family.
Although Savannah has been back on theToday show since April, she opened up to Jenna Bush Hager on June 8 about how difficult it has been to balance work and her life at home. What’s more, she told her friend that viewers might not understand her reason for returning to the news.
“My mom would have said the same, like, ‘Honey, you know, just keep going. Just keep going,’” she stated in a clip posted on Instagram. “I know maybe people wonder, like, whoa—what’s going on? How is she able to do that job? Is she not thinking about it? Did she forget? No. Never. Never.”
As Jenna tearfully watched her friend get emotional, she reassured Savannah that the Today team will always be there for her, through thick and thin.
“And neither have we,” Jenna responded to Savannah. “Like, we’ll have your back. We’ll be with you forever with this.”
When fans watched the duo’s moving conversation, they rallied around Savannah with their support.
“We haven’t forgotten either, Savannah. Not at all.♥️♥️♥️ #bringherhome 🙏💛,” one person wrote in the comments. “Love you, Savannah. Thinking of you and your mom often,” another penned. “Always praying for you, your family, and especially your sweet, innocent mama 🎗️💛🎗️💛🎗️💛🎗️💛,” a different follower added.
