Colin Farrell had a slip of the tongue during a live interview on the Today show, and it left both his co-star and the hosts stunned.
The actor, 49, appeared on the morning show on Tuesday, September 16, alongside Margot Robbie to promote their new movie A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. During the chat, the duo were treated to one of their favorite snacks — the “crisp sandwich” — which they’d often enjoyed on set.
Farrell explained that it became a daily ritual for him to deliver the snack to Robbie’s trailer. “She’s constantly got pregnant appetite for the last 30-odd years,” he teased. “Tayto cheese and onion, white bread, white, cheap bread, thick butter, and I brought one in every morning for her. That was my job every night was to make that for her.”
When he bit into the sandwich provided by the Today kitchen, Farrell was proud to guess the chip brand correctly. “That’s not bad. Is that Tayto? That is Tayto. Is that Tayto? It is,” he said before triumphantly blurting out, “I f**king knew it!”
The actor’s face instantly showed his realization, and Robbie shot him a shocked look while host Craig Melvin exclaimed, “Oh my God!” Farrell quickly tried to downplay the moment, insisting, “They misheard me!” Robbie, still laughing, added, “Yeah, they couldn’t hear, right?”
