Shaun White and Nina Dobrev’s love story has ended.
On Thursday, September 11, People revealed that the couple has called off their engagement, with a source telling the outlet, “It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
The news comes after the Vampire Diaries alum, 36, hit the red carpet solo — and without her engagement ring — at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, September 7.
However, just last week, the former Degrassi: The Next Generation actress posted an Instagram carousel with snaps from her summer adventures, including multiple selfies with the professional snowboarder, 39.

In October 2024, White proposed to Dobrev in New York City — after about five years together — and she took to Instagram to share the news, posting photos of the big moment with the caption, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé 💍♾️.”
In March, Dobrev told E! that she and the Olympian had not started wedding planning.
“I was in Australia shooting a movie and then Christmas and New Year’s,” Dobrev explained. “We’re just enjoying being engaged at this point and being in that sort of phase because a lot of your life is — you have a boyfriend for half of your life and then you have a husband for half of your life but the fiancé period is very short.”
“I really want to enjoy it and not rush that process,” she added.
