From Mexican-American musician Esteban Flores, Slow Joy creates raw sounds that blend shoegaze, emo, and alternative rock. He debuted his first album in 2025, and now, he’s gearing up for his self-titled follow-up. Esteban Flores comes out on August 14, featuring already-released “SLC Punk on an SSRI” and “Forget.”
On the latest single, Slow Joy crafts vulnerable songwriting, delivered through a heavy ambience. Warped guitars scratch through forceful drums, and Slow Joy cuts in with staccato chants of realizing he’s feeling emotionally heavy and needs to take a step back. “Forget is a song about giving in. I always felt like I had an idea of what life was like and how things were supposed to work,” says Flores. “As I get older, I realize nothing in life is certain. That’s a beautiful thing.”
In mid-July, Slow Joy set off on his “I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour” across North America, which runs until August 14 in Dallas.
