Comedian and actor Bobby Moynihan shared his thoughts about the changes made to the Saturday Night Live cast.
In an October 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Moynihan, who had a 9-year run as an SNL cast member, said that it’s not unusual for the sketch comedy show to have different cast members each season.
“It happens all the time. It’s what that show is. It’s people coming in and coming out and living their lives and having a great time,” said Moynihan, who exited SNL in 2017.
While speaking to the publication, Moynihan gave well-wishes to the former cast members who left the show prior to its current 51st season, which premiered in October 2025.
“I wish them all luck,” said the actor to Entertainment Weekly.
In addition, he revealed what he hoped for the Season 51 cast, which include Michael Che, Colin Jost, Ben Marshall, Bowen Yang, Ashley Padilla, Kam Patterson, Jeremy Culhane, Jane Wickline, Chloe Fineman, James Austin Johnson, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Marcello Hernández, Veronika Slowikowska, Sarah Sherman,Tommy Brennan, andKenan Thompson, as reported by NBC.
“I wish the ones who are there that they have a good therapist and good sleep,” stated Moynihan.
Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, & Ego Nwodim Shared Comments on Social Media About Their Recent Exits From ‘SNL’
Entertainment Weekly reported that Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, Ego Nwodim, Emil Wakim, and Heidi Gardner exited SNL after Season 50. Longfellow, Walker, Nwodim, and Wakim released statements about leaving the NBC comedy on their respective Instagram accounts.
For instance, in an August 27 upload, Wakim, who was a featured player for Season 50, let his fans know that he “won’t be returning to snl next year.” In addition, he suggested it wasn’t his decision to leave the series, calling receiving the news “a gut punch of a call.” He clarified that he is “so grateful for [his] time there” and “will miss it dearly.”
Longfellow, who starred in three seasons of SNL until 2025, revealed to his Instagram followers that he “will not be returning for a 4th season at SNL” in an August 28 post. He shared that he wished he could stay on the series, as “It was the best three years of [his] life so far.” In addition, he thanked the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, for giving him “the greatest job in the world” that “changed [his] life.”
Meanwhile, Walker, who was cast on SNL in 2022, took to his Instagram account on August 25 to share the news of his exit. He suggested he had some mixed feelings about his time on SNL.
“Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But we did what we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f—-d up lil family,” read a portion of Walker’s post.
In addition, Nwodim, who began starring on SNL in Season 44, announced her exit in a September 12 Instagram upload. In the post, she thanked her castmates, the show’s writers, crew members, and Michaels.
