Sphere Entertainment is in early discussions about bringing a smaller version of its iconic Las Vegas venue to Nashville, according to a report from Axios citing multiple unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Per the report, “Sphere representatives have held talks with Nashville executives who would be logical partners for such projects.”
This news follows a recent official announcement that the company plans to build a new 6,000-seat mini Sphere at National Harbor in Maryland, just 15 minutes from Washington, D.C.
Nashville could be a fitting location for a new mini Sphere. The city is widely regarded as a hub of American music culture alongside Los Angeles and New York, earning it the nickname Music City, and has long served as the epicenter of country music. Though the genre is not necessarily known for its high-tech production or visuals, major country artists like Kenny Chesney and Zach Brown have already shown that the Sphere’s immersive technology lends itself to country as much as pop, rock, and electronic acts.
Not every proposed Sphere has made it off the drawing board, however. Plans for a full-size London venue were withdrawn in early 2024 after running into local opposition. London Mayor Sadiq Khan reportedly rejected the planning application, ruling that the venue would cause “significant light intrusion resulting in significant harm to the outlook of neighbouring properties, detriment to human health, and significant harm to the general amenity enjoyed by residents.”
