Spotify have posted profits of $669 million for the third quarter of 2025.

In the newly published report, Spotify confirmed that it had achieved double-digit subscriber growth, which has taken it above 700 million monthly users for the first time.

The number of subscribers to the Swedish streaming platform has risen by 12 per cent year-on-year to 281 million. Their revenue has also grown by the same percentage year-on-year to $4.3 billion.

Additionally, Spotify have confirmed their operating income has risen to $582 million, and the company’s gross margin has increased by 56 basic points to 31.6 per cent.

Daniel Ek, Spotify’s Founder and CEO, who is set to begin a new role at the company and become their executive chair in January, said in a statement: “The business is healthy. We’re shipping faster than ever. And we have the tools we need – pricing, product innovation, operational leverage, and eventually the ads turnaround – to deliver both revenue growth and profit expansion.”

Ek continued, “It all comes back to user fundamentals and that’s where we are: 700 million users who keep coming back, engagement at all-time highs. We’re building Spotify for the long-term.”

The rising numbers posted by Spotify follow several artists withdrawing their music from the streaming platform in recent months. The boycott was led by Australian rockers King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard in July, who said of their decision, “A PSA to those unaware: Spotify CEO Daniel Ek invests millions in AI military drone technology. We just removed our music from the platform.”

Then, in September, Massive Attack requested for their back catalogue to be taken down from Spotify, telling fans, “The economic burden that has long been placed on artists is now compounded by a moral & ethical burden, whereby the hard-earned money of fans & the creative endeavours of musicians ultimately funds lethal, dystopian technologies.”

At the time of writing, their music remains available to listen to on Spotify.
