2. Sept. 3, head to Nerd Nite at the Brackendale Art Gallery: Café & Culture Centre, located at 41950 Government Rd., from 7 to 9 p.m.

“An event where knowledge enthusiasts unite for a night of nerdy talks, drinks, and fun in person,” reads the listing.

Talks include:

How to Win at Monopoly with Riley Gibbs: Ever wondered which properties you should collect in Monopoly? Turns out we can use some mathematical models to help answer that question! We’ll learn how to calculate expected rates of return in a game of Monopoly, and how to land your friends in crushing debt.

Non Monogamy with Megan Veaudry: In a culture where monogamy is presented as the only viable option, how can we prepare ourselves to make our own decisions? Join Megan Veaudry, teacher of Erotic Autonomy, as she explores the history of Monogamy, and deconstructs the modern relationship so that it can be assembled by each individual in a way that makes sense for them.

Making Music for Bipolar Disorder with Henry Dobell: Henry Dobell has a longstanding passion for music and has been diagnosed with Type 1 Bipolar Disorder for almost as long. Learn how he uses music production and live performance as tools to help manage both the symptoms and stigma surrounding his diagnosis.

3. On Sept. 4, head to the Squamish Library for It’s Gravy When You’re in the A/V: Movie Nostalgia (Back to the Future) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“Bring your blankets and get comfortable at the Squamish Public Library as we host a screening of the most definitive movies of the 80s and 90s. Romance, dramas, thrillers and horror, come revel in the memories and nostalgia as we present a new classic every month,” reads the listing.

“Please ensure to check movie ratings before you register for the event. Some of the movies shown may not be suitable for younger viewers. As we are watching movies that were made in the 80s and 90s, note that there may be outdated depictions, language, or cultural references that reflect the time period in which the movies were produced.”

4.  On Sept. 5, there’s What is dementia? This talk is presented by the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, at the  Squamish Library, located at 37907 2 Ave., from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

“Learn how dementia affects an individual’s brain and behaviour. General topics include different types of dementia, stages and progression and dispelling some common myths,” reads the listing.

5. Also on Sept. 5, the Brackendale Fall Fair is back for two days, at the Brackendale Farmers Institute Park at 41976 Government Rd. Day 1 is on from 4:15 to 6 p.m.

Day 1 of the fair includes exhibit entry & judging for various categories. Entries can win cash and coveted ribbons for first, second,  and third. Displays are on Saturday, Sept 6.

“Do you have something you made that you are very proud of? The Brackendale Fall Fair Exhibits Competition showcases your talents in gardening, preserving, arts & crafts. Check out the Brackendale Fall Fair categories on the website,” reads the listing.

6. On Sept. 6, Thea Wang plays Junction Park, from 5 to 9 p.m.

“There is something wonderfully unique that precedes Thea Wang’s solar system. With a deep intensity random encounters, loneliness and love is transformed into sonorous short stories that open doors into others’ lives, where we get to be guests for a little while. Melodic pop songs take unexpected leaps and fits her magical voice perfectly, electronics and samples are helping to modernize a traditional acoustic singer/songwriter genre at the same time as Joni’s heart beats behind it. And soon comes the debut album,” reads the listing.
