Seeing double is a good thing for the Stars on Stage series in April. It means one its most popular acts will be back for more.
The internationally acclaimed brother act b2wins will return by popular demand blending virtuosity, humor, showmanship and positivity at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11 at Urbana’s Gloria Theatre, 216 S. Main St.
The b2wins show in the initial Stars on Stage season in 2023 had patrons demanding more according to Staci Weller, executive director of the GrandWorks Foundation, that operates the Gloria Theatre. One attendee called the show “the most joyful performance we’ve ever seen” and clinched the decision for an encore.
“This is more than a concert., it’s a triumphant return to Urbana for two artists whose story of resilience and hope has inspired audiences around the world. Their return marks one of the most anticipated events of the 2026 season,” she said.
Music helped Walter and Wagner Caldas survive the slums, poverty, drugs and threats of violence in their hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Their father hand‑crafted two violins that changed their lives and, by age 12, the twins were performing in a youth orchestra.
Twenty years ago, an NPR producer’s interest led to full‑ride music scholarships in the United States, going on to perform world-wide.
The show will serve up a high‑energy fusion of pop, rock, funk, classical, hip‑hop and musical storytelling. The concert includes a “Top 40 from the Last 40” section where iconic hits from Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and others are reimagined with violins, ukulele, vocals, keyboards and humor.
Weller said audiences can expect to sing along to reinvented favorites, laugh and connect through the brothers’ spontaneous banter and, hopefully, leave happier than when they arrived.
Another part of the b2wins story is remembering the opportunities they received and giving back in that spirit. The brothers will once again spend time with students at the Urbana Youth Center during their visit.
“Their 2023 session left a lasting impact and the students talked for months about the twins’ message of hope, kindness and self‑belief,” said Weller. “This year, the brothers will return to encourage young people to dream boldly, work hard and believe that their circumstances do not define their future.
“This outreach is not a publicity gesture. It is central to who the B2wins are: artists who use their platform to uplift and empower the next generation.”
Tickets cost $33.90, $44.25 and $54.60. For tickets or more information, go to gloriatheatre.org/.
Stars on Stage will next present Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, a concert of gospel and bluegrass music, on May 15.
