ROCHESTER — Garrett Konz was strong on the mound, and Sam Graunke homered as the Rochester Royals knocked off the Cannon Falls Bears 8-4 on Monday night at Mayo Field.
Konz allowed just two runs — one earned — while striking out seven in six innings. Grady Babcock and Easton Fritcher each allowed a run out of the bullpen to close it out.
Graunke launched a solo shot in the sixth before adding an RBI single in the seventh. He finished 2-for-5 on the night.
Owen Kelly also had a pair of hits, and Easton Fritcher drove in a pair of runs as well for the Royals (13-8), who recorded nine hits.
Jack Meyers and Jadan Winchell each had a pair of hits for the Bears (21-13).
The Royals wrap up the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to face the Faribault Lakers.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
