Taylor Swift done it again — set another world record — and this time, it wasn’t with an album, a stadium or a streaming service.
The superstar’s first-ever appearance on a podcast, Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights,” shattered a Guinness World Record by pulling in 1.3 million concurrent YouTube viewers on Aug. 13. For Swifties, that number felt serendipitous with the singer’s favorite number, 13, stamped into the record.
The two-hour episode, “Taylor Swift on Reclaiming Her Masters, Wrapping The Eras Tour, and ‘The Life of a Showgirl,'” has been viewed more than 20 million times. It’s been years since Swift sat down for such an extended interview, let alone two hours, allowing the podcast to feel more like a cultural event.
Two weeks later, Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement.
Fans tuned in to the podcast not only for the Kelce brothers’ trademark humor but also for Swift’s surprises. Chief among them: the reveal of her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” She unveiled the artwork, track list and release date of Oct. 3.
Taylor Swift ‘New Heights’ updates: Eras Tour inspired new album, no extra tracks, more
“This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” Swift explained on the podcast. “I’m so proud of it, and it just comes from like the most infectiously joyous, wild, dramatic place I was in my life.”
Travis, who has heard the entire album, gave his review: “They’re all 12 bangers, it’s a lot more upbeat and a lot more like fun pop like excitement.”
The superstar has set a few records lately. In 2024, her 11th era, “The Tortured Poets Department,” became Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day with 313.7 million plays. And her Eras Tour remains the highest-grossing music tour ever.
