Prince William and Prince Harry could be reuinited at a royal wedding in June, with an insider warning of potential tension. The pair were last together at the funeral of their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in August 2024 but sat apart and did not speak.
However, they could come face-to-face again at the wedding of their cousin Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, in June. He is due to marry Harriet Sperling in a private ceremony at All Saints Church, Cirencester, on June 6 following the couple’s engagement last August. Although the guest list is yet to be confirmed, Peter has always maintained a close relationship with his cousins and it is likely both the Duke of Wales and the Duke of Sussex will attend.
There are concerns within the Royal Family that there could be tension between the brothers. An insider has revealed there are “so many unresolved feelings” between the pair that could come to the surface on the day.
They told Closer: “The royal family are feeling anxious about having the brothers in the same room again. While Harry holds onto hope, William is still furious about his behaviour.”
They added: “There are so many unresolved feelings between them and the family fear that William’s ready to unleash how he feels, which could even lead to an altercation. Part of William is tempted to have it out once and for all. There is a lot that has never been said face-to-face.”
Tensions between William and Harry are believed to have started around late 2017 and into 2018 when the latter’s relationship with Meghan Markle started to progress. The tensions grew further around the time of Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018.
According to Harry’s memoir Spare, the brothers then had a physical altercation at Nottingham Cottage in 2019. They grew further apart when Harry and Meghan left the Royal Family in 2020 and relocated to the USA.
William and Kate did reunite with Harry and Meghan at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in 2022. However, the four have not been seen together in public since although it is believed the Princess of Wales has taken on the role of peacemaker.
The insider claimed Kate will encourage the brothers to talk if the opportunity arises. However, she reportedly feels Harry needs to apologise while William needs to be more open towards his younger brother.
Harry has stated on multiple occasions that he wants to reconcile with his family, specifically King Charles and his brother William. Meanwhile, in a recent interview with ITV News, the prince said he will “always be part of the Royal Family.”
