After solid starts to their inaugural seasons on HBO, The Chair Company and I Love LA will get a chance to go further.

HBO has renewed both first-year comedies for another season. The pickups come with two episodes remaining in The Chair Company’s season and midway through I Love LA’s run. HBO and HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys announced the renewals at a press session Thursday, along with a pickup of first-year drama Task.

More from The Hollywood Reporter

“We’re thrilled by the incredible response to The Chair Company and I Love LA debuts,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vp HBO Programming and Head of HBO and HBO Max comedy series. “Both shows confidently carry on the HBO comedy tradition, in their own singular way.  We couldn’t be happier to continue collaborating with Tim, Zach, Rachel, and their exceptional teams.”

The Chair Company, co-created by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, stars Robinson (I Think You Should Leave) as a guy who, after an embarrassing incident at his job, finds himself investigating a conspiracy. The series had HBO’s best comedy premiere in five years and is currently averaging 3.3 million viewers on HBO and HBO Max, a figure that will continue to grow (HBO measures audiences for 90 days after a premiere).

Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price and Joseph Tudisco also star in The Chair Company, and Lou Diamond Phillips has a recurring role. Robinson and Kanin executive produce with Adam McKay and Todd Schulman for HyperObject Industries, Andrew DeYoung, and Igor Srubshchik. DeYoung and Aaron Schimberg direct.

Rachel Sennott created and stars in I Love LA, which centers on a group of friends navigating love and work in Los Angeles; Jordan Firstman, Josh Hutcherson, Odessa A’zion and True Whitaker also star. I Love LA is averaging 2 million cross-platform viewers to date, ranking second to The Chair Company as the highest-rated first-year comedies in platform history (although much of that history, obviously, predates the streaming era and HBO Max).

Sennott executive produces with Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, Max Silvestri, and Lorene Scafaria. Sennott, Scafaria, Bill Benz and Kevin Bray directed the first season.
