Legendary British rockers The Rolling Stones are apparently “nearly done” with their new album, according to Keith Richard’s son Marlon.
The band released their 24th studio record, ‘Hackney Diamonds’, in 2023 – which featured the last recordings of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021. It was their first full-length album of new songs since 2005’s ‘A Bigger Bang’ and became their fourteenth UK number-one album.
During an interview for the Rolling Stones edition of Record Collector, Marlon Richards – Keith’s first child with the actress and model Anita Pallenberg – was asked what the group were up to at the moment.
“They’re in town right now, recording,” he responded. “They’re in Chiswick or somewhere like that; I think they’re nearly done. They still maintain these ridiculous hours: after lunch until two in the morning. I’d rather be somewhere else at that time of night!”
Indeed, quite the feat considering the remaining members of The Stones are 82 (Mick Jagger), 81 (Keith Richards) and 78 (Ronnie Wood) years young.

Marlon Richards continued: “They gave them a Grammy, so now they’re all hyped up on that: ‘Oh, yeah – we can do another one like that! We’ve got more like that if you want…’. I think they’re doing the follow-up.”
Indeed, ‘Hackney Diamonds’ earned the band the Best Rock Album at the 2025 Grammys (their fifth if you include 1987’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy), and it seems to have energized them.
Still, the news of a follow-up record may not be completely surprising, as Jagger told The New York Times that he wouldn’t consider ‘Hackney Diamonds’ to be the “last Rolling Stones album”. He said that they were already “three-quarters through the next one”.
However, there are ongoing rumours that The Rolling Stones may be going on tour again…

Regarding the speculation about a forthcoming tour, Marlon Richards said: “I think they’re planning a tour of Europe.”
The band members have defied Father Time thus far and clearly want to make it up to their EU fans, having reportedly scrapped plans to tour the continent this year due to scheduling issues.
According to reports from The Times, the band opted against a return to touring for 2025 as the options clashed with pre-existing commitments, on top of complications surrounding venues – which would have included stages in Paris, London, Barcelona and Rome.
