The Sentimental Tourists – Lost Treasures – New Irish Music
Of all the artists who might release a Christmas-themed EP, former members of Into Paradise and Whipping Boy are not top of the list. Dave Long (Into Paradise) and Paul Page (Whipping Boy) have done just that with their latest EP, part of an impressively fertile creative run for them. Moodier than the previous 2 EPs, the title track starts out slowly with Long singing seasonal lines over Page’s lovely, meandering guitar, which gradually builds to a noisier finish. The slow, moody December is more downbeat, while Midnight Mass is a terrific instrumental piece with buzzing guitars and chilly keyboards, which signpost Page’s ambient side project Polaroid Ghost.
Hopefully, there will be an album on the way from the duo next year, but in the meantime, this EP will be available from Friday, 5th December from https://thesentimentaltourists.bandcamp.com/
