The new trailer for the latest SpongeBob SquarePants film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, is here and zanier than ever.
The film stars the voices of Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, who gets wrapped up in a journey with The Flying Dutchman to prove himself. Here’s more about the film from the official synopsis:
SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom friends set sail in their biggest, all-new, can’t miss cinematic event ever…The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. Desperate to be a big guy, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman – a mysterious swashbuckling ghost pirate – on a seafaring comedy-adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the deep sea, where no Sponge has gone before.
The trailer also features Ice Spice’s new song for the film, “Big Guy.” The single will be available everywhere Thursday night. Spice made her first major film debut earlier this year with Highest 2 Lowest.
The film also stars the voices of Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence and Mr. Lawrence. George Lopez, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, Regina Hall and Mark Hamill also star.
Derek Drymon directs from a script by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman, with a story by Marc Ceccarelli and Kaz and Pam Brady. Marc Ceccarelli, Vincent Waller, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro and Andrew Lary executive produce, with Lisa Stewart, Pam Brady and Aaron Dem producing. The characters are based on SpongeBob SquarePants, created by Stephen Hillenburg.
When does the film release in theaters?
The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants comes to theaters Dec. 19.
