The cast of The White Lotus Season 4 just checked in. Mike White’s vacation-set series is now officially filming in France, HBO announced on Wednesday.
The White Lotus takes its name from the fictional luxury hotel chain, which, in the universe of the show, has outposts across the globe. Unfortunately for the vacationers staying at these ritzy hotels (which, prior to Season 4, were actually Four Seasons properties), each season concluded with at least one person dead — a moment teased in the opening episode before flashing back one week earlier.
The first season of the show followed guests at a luxury resort in Hawaii — where a hotel employee was accidentally killed by a guest — before moving to Sicily for its sophomore season, which saw the death of a fan favorite. The most recent season, set in Thailand, ended with the show’s biggest bloodbath yet.
Now, Season 4’s star-studded cast includes Helena Bonham Carter, Heather Graham and Rosie Perez — and once again, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will end up dead. And it’s also possible that the show will switch things up for its fourth round — though it’s hard to imagine The White Lotus without a dead body.
Where ‘The White Lotus’ is filming Season 4
Already dusting off your passport to live like the vacationers on The White Lotus? This season, the guests are heading to the Côte d’Azur, aka the French Riviera: specifically, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco. While Paris won’t be a part of the story line, filming will also take place in the city, HBO confirmed in a press release.
Looking to book the exact hotels as the characters? HBO said that the Airelles Château de la Messardière will be a stand-in for the White Lotus du Cap, while the Hôtel Martinez will be the White Lotus Cannes.
What we know about the story line
Right now, the answer is … not much! But according to HBO, the Cannes Film Festival — the most prestigious film event of the year — will be central to the plot. Since the festival is invitation-only, it’s possible that hotel guests will be in the film business or covering the festival as press.
In a behind-the-scenes interview with White following the eighth episode of Season 3, the creator teased, “For the fourth season I want to get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves of rocks’ vernacular, but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”

The White Lotus cast is always stacked, and this season is no exception. Here’s who is arriving at the French Riviera.
Will any former cast members return?
Thus far, only three cast members have appeared in more than one season of the show, and all of them were connected to the story line surrounding Jennifer Coolidge’s wealthy socialite, Tanya. The character appeared in Season 1 and Season 2 before dying at the end of the latter.
Natasha Rothwell first appeared as spa manager Belinda in Season 1, then returned in Season 3, set in Thailand. There, she crossed paths with Tanya’s very shady husband, Greg — played by Jon Gries — who has appeared in all three seasons. Belinda’s story line ended with her choosing not to pursue justice for Tanya — who died after Greg put a hit on her — and instead accepted $5 million from Greg in exchange for her silence on the matter.
So far, there’s no confirmation that anyone will return, though in April 2025, Rothwell joked to the Hollywood Reporter ahead of the Season 3 finale that Gries was like a “barnacle” who would return every season. Gries added, “Yes, I would love to come back. But does the book on Greg seem like it’s complete? I can’t tell you.”
Rothwell also said in the same interview that she could see herself returning, despite already getting her happy ending. “I feel like Belinda is everyone and everyone is Belinda,” she said, “and so maybe, selfishly, [viewers] want to be a part of it, through me.”
White also teased a potential all-stars season in the same interview — and given White’s Survivor background, it’s certainly possible. “Assuming this keeps going and people like it and HBO likes it, it would be cool,” he said, before adding that it would be a scheduling nightmare since a lot of White Lotus alumni go on to become big stars.
