If you used to be a Disney Channel fan who is now a huge Hallmark Channel fan, you’re in for quite a treat this fall season.
The powers that be are allowing two fan-favorite movies to come together with the release of Haul Out the Halloween, which will feature the unofficial Halloweentown reunion.
The 4-1-1 on Halloweentown
As many millennials know, Halloweentown first aired in 1998 as a Disney Channel Original Movie and spawned three sequels in later years—Halloweentown II: Kalabar’sRevenge (2001), Halloweentown High (2004) and Return to Halloweentown (2006).
Brown and Kountz, who played Marnie Piper and Kal in the magical franchise (and then became real-life spouses), will star in the upcoming Hallmark movie as new residents of Evergreen Lane, Luna and Marvin, the neighbors of Lacey Chabert’s character Emily.
Haul Out the Halloween capitalizes on spooky season for the first time, serving as a spinoff of Hallmark’s beloved Christmas movie franchise, Haul Out the Holly.
It’s a fitting casting because if there’s anyone who can spread the magic of Halloween, it’s the girl who uses her family magic to defeat the evil warlock Kalabar. In the film, Marnie discovers she’s a witch and uses her powers to save Halloweentown—a magical world where supernatural beings live freely—with her family, including grandmother Aggie Cromwell (played by the late Debbie Reynolds).
What Will Haul Out the Halloween Be About?
As for the spinoff film, while Evergreen “has long been modest when it comes to Halloween,” the new couple on the block inspires everyone else to create “EverSCREAM Lane” as a fundraising event
“As the block pulls together to plan creepy contests, spine-chilling décor and a spooktacular carnival, new haunted hijinks ensue with Pamela, Ned, Mary Louise and the rest of the block,” the official synopsis notes, via TVLine. “Through the process, Emily rediscovers the joys of the holiday that she and her late grandmother once cherished.”
Like in previous Haul Out the Holly films, fans will see the return of the Mean Girls alum as Emily, Melissa Peterman as Pamela, Wes Brown as Jared, Stephen Tobolowsky as Ned and Ellen Travolta as Mary Louise.
Photos from the movie also revealed some of the towns’ spirited costumes.
