Timothée Chalamet’s fame journey gets candid take from ‘Marty Supreme’ costar
Timothée Chalamet’s rise to stardom has prompted an honest take from his highly acclaimed film Marty Supreme costar, Kevin O’Leary.
In a recent conversation with PEOPLE at the BATA Tea at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, the 71-year-old actor shared how the 30-year-old star remains unfazed despite major awards recognition.
“He’s very well-grounded. He’s a very normal guy,” O’Leary said, explaining that Chalamet’s grounded nature comes from his upbringing.
The Rollover actor added, “I’ve met his mother. I hung out with her in New York. We had a great time. He is focused on work, and he doesn’t screw around until he’s got it nailed down.”
“I think that’s a good attribute. He hasn’t let any of the stardom stuff affect him at all. He’s the same guy I met at the beginning. Eight months later, he’s the same guy,” he shared.
Continuing to gush over Chalamet’s acting skills, O’Leary also revealed that his costar opted for method acting for his role as a ping-pong player in Marty Supreme.
“I certainly saw what a method actor is like. That’s not how I work, but that’s how he works. And I think he was fantastic,” O’Leary remarked.
Apart from their professional bond, the pair also connected over their shared interest in watches while filming.
“He’s a big watch guy. So am I. We have a lot of fun with watches … we talk about watches all the time,” he joked, adding that an Oscar win this year could earn Chalamet a special watch.
Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor at the Critics Choice Awards and a Golden Globe this year for his role in Marty Supreme.
