Tom Cruise approves of the latest movie remake.
The 63-year-old actor and producer attended the U.K. premiere on Wednesday evening for the remake of The Running Man, which features his fellow Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Dan Killian, Colman Domingo, Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, Jayme Lawson, William H. Macy, and Katy O’Brian.
Directed by Edgar Wright, the film takes place in a game show called The Running Man, where contestants, or “runners,” are pitted against a team of murderous Hunters whose job is to track them down and eliminate them. Any runner who can stay alive for 30 days wins the grand prize of one billion dollars. The Running Man is based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel of the same name and marks the story’s second big-screen adaptation, following the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“Another great night out with my friends at the movies!” Cruise posted on his official X and Instagram accounts, along with photos with Powell and the cast. “You guys crushed it, congratulations! I laughed, was on the edge of my seat, and ate way too much popcorn.”
Fans immediately took note of Cruise’s arrival and support. The actor has remained close with Powell since their Top Gun: Maverick days in 2022, making his appearance a meaningful show of support for his friend’s new film.
“If Tom said it was a good movie, it is a really good movie… ” a fan commented on Instagram. “there is no way to miss ‘The Running Man’ 😱🏃🏃.”

The new Running Man releases at a time when dystopian sci-fi is having its own moment again, making the story feel surprisingly current nearly 40 years after its last film version.
The Running Man is out in theaters in the United States on Friday.
