Travis Scott Crashes Anyma’s Ibiza Set — EDM Fans Have Thoughts originally appeared on Parade.
Fans got an unexpected jolt of energy Wednesday night when Travis Scott appeared as a surprise guest during Anyma’s headline show in Ibiza.
As seen in clips shared online, the performance opened with Scott stepping onto a futuristic stage bathed in otherworldly lights as the crowd erupted. His appearance was accompanied by custom visuals he reportedly created himself, which pulsed across massive screens and synced seamlessly with the DJ’s immersive set.
Midway through the show, Scott pulled a fan from the front row onto the stage, encouraging them to jump alongside him. The reaction of the crowd, which consisted mainly of Electronic Dance Music (EMD) fans, were mixed.
“The best night ever best music ever best artists ever,” one fan wrote in the comments of Anyma’s post on Instagram that showed clips of the performance.
Another added simply, “Breaking barriers.”
Others were more cautious: “Really praying this doesn’t become a new trend,” one wrote. “When I go to any rave/festivals to see edm djs, I don’t want to hear rap music. That’s why there’s rap concerts for that.”
Some were quick to defend the rapper: “Haters gonna hate,” one fan wrote on Rolling Stone‘s post.
“Dude lovin’ Europe right now, he’s everywhere lol,” another added of Scott’s stage presence.
That being said, Scott’s visuals blended with Anyma’s high-concept style. The result was a kinetic, dreamlike environment that the rapper himself couldn’t get enough of.
“A bllassstt,” Scott wrote on his Instagram Stories alongside a clip of fireworks on a beach in Ibiza. “Life no phone couple days real experience.”
