SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The Royals are still searching for their first win of the season.
Utah fell to the San Diego Wave 2-1 in its home opener Sunday.
Dudinha put San Diego on the board in the 18th minute. Lara Pranikar scored her first NWSL goal in the 67th minute to tie the game.
A turning point in the game came in the 83rd minute. Tatumn Milazzo received a red card, leaving Utah with just 10 players on the pitch. San Diego scored the go-ahead goal a few minutes later.
Since returning to Utah in 2024, the Royals are 0-19 when trailing at the half. Head Coach Jimmy Coenraets and the players talk about the importance of playing a complete 90 minutes.
Utah is back in action on Wednesday against the Washington Spirit.
