V for Vendetta TV Series Likely in the Works at HBO

After twenty years, it seems DC’s V is making a comeback – but this time, he is moving from big screens to a television series.

According to Variety, a V for Vendetta television series is currently in development at HBO. The show will see James Gunn and Peter Safran serving as executive producers, with Pete Jackson writing the scripts. As of now, no additional details about the project are known.

V for Vendetta was originally a comic serial written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd. It is set in totalitarian Britain, where an anarchist named V, known for his distinctive Guy Fawkes mask, seeks to bring down fascism from its roots. Joining him in this mission is Evey Hammond, a young woman V rescued from the country’s secret police.

If the television adaptation moves forward, it will join Hugo Weaving’s acclaimed rendition of V from the 2005 V for Vendetta feature film, which also starred Natalie Portman as Evey Hammond.

As the dust settles around the news, HBO is also gearing up for another DC Studios production, Lanters. The superhero series, helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, stars Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. With no release date announced yet, Lanterns is expected to premiere on HBO sometime in early 2026.
