I am very excited to make my debut on The HELLO! Royal Club and launch a new monthly post in which I will select my five favourite royal fashion moments from the month. As an added bonus, you will have the chance to vote for the look you like the most, and then our very own royal shopper, Leanne Bayley, will reveal the winner in a future post and let you know how you can replicate it. Of course, narrowing down the many magnificent royal ensembles on display in any given month to just five is nigh on impossible – but I’ve given it my best shot. On 14 October, Catherine stepped out on a visit to the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service’s new Learning and Development College on an away day to Northern Ireland with Prince William. For the occasion, she chose an apt green look centering around an Alexander McQueen longline structured coat dress. It featured a Mandarin collar and pleated skirt. The statement outerwear was paired with chocolate brown suede boots by Gianvito Rossi, and she wore a beautiful pair of Daniella Draper earrings in the shape of tiny shamrocks. I absolutely love how she embraced a recycled look, having worn the designer coat on Christmas Day in 2022 for the annual mass at Sandringham.
On 18 October Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, attended Ascot Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse. Former Olympic equestrian Zara looked so classy in the navy wool ‘Napier’ coat by The Fold, which featured a peplum waistline and an oversized collar. It was teamed with the coordinating ‘Ellingham’ skirt by the same brand. I think it’s such a pleasure seeing Zara back out at the races for the autumn/winter season, as she always accessorises every outfit perfectly. Here, she elevated her co-ord with a statement headband by Bee Smith Millinery, an independent brand based in London.
The Duchess of Sussex stepped out unexpectedly for Paris Fashion Week this month – and totally raised the royal style stakes. Though every look Meghan rocked during her time in the City of Love gets a big tick from me, her all-black moment is definitely my favourite. She was seen on her way to the Balenciaga dinner, having attended the brand’s fashion show earlier in the day, decked out head-to-toe in the luxury Spanish label. She wore an asymmetrical dress featuring a glamorous caped shoulder and black pumps. Her slicked bun created a sleek, high-fashion edge that was perfectly on brand for the occasion.
A princess wearing a tiara pretty much epitomises regal fashion and, on that front, Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands was the star of the sartorial show on 3 October. Accompanying her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, she wore a forest green tulle ballgown to the gala dinner after the swearing-in ceremony of the new Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The Monique Lhuillier gown, which retails for a staggering £11,131, boasted a beautiful off-the-shoulder neckline which I think always makes a gown look more glamorous. In 2022, This new look of Catharina-Amalia’s feels very reminiscent of the Princess of Wales’ breathtaking Jenny Packham gown she wore to a formal state dinner hosted by the Governor General of Jamaica in Kingston during her and William’s tour of the Caribbean, marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – timelessly elegant with a beautiful whimsical quality. Adding to the regal feel of outfit was Queen Emma’s Diamond Tiara, Queen Maxima’s Diamond and Emerald Earrings, and Queen Wilhelmina’s Emerald Cabochon Brooch, which the princess pulled out of the Dutch royal jewellery archives.
I love Queen Mary of Denmark for her ability to wear tailored pieces while keeping the overall look soft and feminine. She did just that on 7 October when she attended the opening of parliament at Christiansborg Palace. Joining her husband, King Frederik, on this momentous occasion, the Australian-born royal opted for a cream jacquard skirt by Italian fashion brand Lunatica. She teamed it with a waist-cinching wrap jacket by Scanlan Theodore in navy with a V-shaped neckline, as well as Jane Taylor’s ‘Skull Cap’ hat. I think matching your shoes, hat and bag always makes an outfit look more polished, so Mary’s accessory choices get my seal of approval. The understated headwear complemented her berry-hued suede pumps and clutch beautifully.
