Memorial Day weekend in the Wilmington area is all about the beach: Getting to it, or avoiding the crowds on it.
Last year, my brother and I made the tragic mistake of actually leaving our spot at our dad’s house on Wrightsville Beach and going on a beer run a little too late on Saturday morning (I know, I know), which meant fighting through a comically massive traffic backup just to get back on Harbor Island.
In other words, brotherly bonding time achieved.
Whether you’re planning on spending some beach time this holiday weekend or looking for some other options, we got you. Read on.
Weekend weather outlook
Speaking of the beach, it’s a looking a bit dicey weather-wise for this weekend, but there should be at least some sun for beach-goers. Mostly sunny Friday with a chance of thunderstorms, with clouds Saturday giving way to afternoon sun. Sunday’s looking the most likely for steady rain, with some sun and partly cloudy skies Monday. Highs in the low 80s and lows near 70 all weekend.
