West Bromwich indoor market is announcing a brand new attraction set to transform the trading space every Friday night after hours. Henry’s Blueshouse, the Birmingham club night known for being the spot where Black Sabbath first got their break, is to host a free night of live music from Friday, January 16.
- The event is being organised by Jim Simpson, Black Sabbath’s first manager, the club night will run every Friday from 7pm until 10pm with stallholders staying open until 9pm to serve street food and drinks, including cocktails.
- Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward were collectively called Earth when they first started playing Henry’s Blueshouse at The Crown pub on Station Street.
- The club night has been running since 1968 and bands including Jethro Tull, Status Quo and Thin Lizzy have played it over the years.
- It now runs at Snobs every Tuesday night, with the new West Bromwich night being a Black Country first.
- Jim Simpson commented: “We’re thrilled to be extending Henry’s to the Black Country and look forward to seeing music fans join us every Friday. A big thanks to Sandwell Council for forming this new partnership with us to bring regular live blues to West Bromwich High Street. We already have a great line-up of bands for January and February, and will soon have bookings stretching into the spring and beyond.”
- Councillor Peter Hughes, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for Regeneration and Infrastructure, added: “We were really proud to open the new West Bromwich Indoor Market in 2025 and to welcome many thousands of visitors eager to discover the fantastic range of stalls and items on offer. Supporting businesses big and small is a key part of this, and we’re excited to have these music events with Henry’s Blueshouse coming soon on Friday evenings, to entertain visitors and create a wonderful, inviting atmosphere for everyone.”
