The 2025 Soo Film Festival took place Sept. 10-14 in Sault Ste. Marie.
The event took place at the historic Soo Theatre and Bayliss Public Library, according to a community announcement.
The documentary feature award went to “Did You Guys Eat? / Ya Comieron: Stories of Michigan Agriculture,” directed by Stephany Slaughter, at the 2025 Soo Film Festival.
Attendees voted for their favorite films, resulting in several winners across different categories. The narrative feature winner was “So Fades the Light,” directed by Get Super Rad. The documentary feature award went to “Did You Guys Eat? / Ya Comieron: Stories of Michigan Agriculture,” directed by Stephany Slaughter.

Other winners included “Sacred Waters: Anishinaabeg Naagdawenmaanaanig Giigoonhkewin” for documentary short and “A-Okay” for student documentary short. The animation category was won by “Livid Mortis,” while “Bounce” took the student animation award. “Sidekicks” won narrative short, “Sarcum” won international narrative short, and “The Most Delicious Game” won student narrative short. The music video category was won by “How’d You Feel (About Talkin’ to Me)” by Bogue.
