Another two singers have now secured their spot in “The Voice” finale.
The show’s Playoffs — the penultimate round where each coach has to whittle their team of four down to just one singer — continued Monday night.
During the episode, coaches Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg were in the hot seat as they each had to pick one singer to advance to the finale (Michael Buble and Reba McEntire made their own team decisions last week).
Here’s a look at the two singers who survived the round to claim a spot in “The Voice” Season 28 finale.
Who did Niall Horan pick for ‘The Voice’ Season 28 finale?
Team Niall — Aiden Ross
As a two-time winner of “The Voice,” Horan has worked with a high level of talent on his teams.
But during the Playoff round Monday night, the former One Direction star said his Season 28 team is the best he’s ever had on the show.
After some deliberation, he opted to advance Aiden Ross, a 20-year-old singer from College Station, Texas, to the finale.
“To think this guy’s 20 years old and has that talent, it’s frightening,” Horan said following Ross’ performance of Damien Rice’s “The Blower’s Daughter” during the Playoffs.
“Thank you for believing in me,” Ross said as he hugged his “Voice” coach.
Ross’ time on the show began with a quick four-chair turn as he auditioned with Adele’s “Love in the Dark” — a rendition that got a standing ovation from all four coaches and has more than 1 million views on YouTube.
“What planet are you from?” Horan said after the performance, going on to praise how Ross was able to take an Adele song and make it his own.
“You have a beautiful voice, and you can tell all four of us were enchanted by it,” Michael Buble added.
Snoop Dogg’s pitch was straight to the point: “Join my team, we’ll win this thing.”
But Ross ended up going with Horan, who made a similar claim that has now come to fruition: “I think you could be in the final of this competition.”
The coaches have continued to heap praise upon Ross throughout the season.
The 20-year-old’s performance of Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over” during the Knockouts led to a bold claim from Snoop Dogg: “You sound like you could actually win ‘The Voice.’”
Who did Snoop Dogg pick for ‘The Voice’ Season 28 finale?
Team Snoop Dogg — Ralph Edwards
Ralph Edwards secured his spot in “The Voice” finale with a rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You” that had Snoop Dogg in tears.
“You touched me, man,” “The Voice” coach said, sharing that Edwards’ performance brought back memories of people in his life who are no longer with him.
Edwards became emotional when host Carson Daly revealed he was moving on to the finale, and called it “a dream come true.”
The 30-year-old singer from Fresno, California, started off his time on “The Voice” with a four-chair turn audition of Journey’s “Lights.”
“That is how you audition for ‘The Voice,’” Horan said after the performance.
While McEntire called it a “perfect performance,” Buble made the boldest claim of all: “Whoever you choose is going to win ‘The Voice.’”
But in the end, Edwards, a full-time musician by trade, ultimately chose to join Snoop Dogg’s team. The rapper’s heartfelt pitch included bringing out several singers, writers and producers he has worked with over the years and inviting Edwards to join the family.
Now, Edwards has a chance to give Snoop Dogg his first victory as a coach on “The Voice.”
Who else is competing in ‘The Voice’ Season 28 finale?
As the Deseret News previously reported, the following two singers have also reached “The Voice” finale:
- Jazz McKenzie, a 31-year-old singer from Alabama who is on Michael Buble’s team.
- Aubrey Nicole, a 19-year-old singer from Pennsylvania who is on Reba McEntire’s team and arguably the dark horse of the season as a one-chair turn.
“The Voice” will reveal the other two singers rounding out the season’s top six, based on viewers’ votes, during the finale.
When is ‘The Voice’ Season 28 finale?
The top six contestants will perform on “The Voice” live for the first time during their finale appearances on Monday, Dec. 15.
During the two-hour episode, which airs at 8 p.m MST, the artists will perform a contemporary and classic song for a chance at winning the season. Viewers will be able to vote for their favorite artists overnight, per a TV listing for the episode.
“The Voice” will reveal the Season 28 winner at the end of a two-hour finale airing at 8 p.m. MST on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
