Jessie Buckley has spent years keeping her personal life out of the spotlight, even as her career has pulled her further into it. The Hamnet star has confirmed she’s married to a man named Freddie, with most details about him coming from the handful of times she’s chosen to speak about their relationship in interviews.

His name is Freddie, and Buckley has not publicly shared his last name.
In an August 2025 profile, The New York Times identified Buckley’s husband only as “Freddie,” adding that Buckley “declined to give his last name and age,” per the piece.
During her January 2024 appearance on the Table Manners podcast, Buckley explicitly identified Freddie as her husband while talking about cooking at home: “One of my favorite ever dishes is anchovy pasta…Freddie makes it. I’m rubbish at making it and Freddie…my husband…it’s from a New York Times recipe but it’s just capers, chillies, about a pint of oil, great parsley, and garlic.”
They met on a blind date.
Buckley also described how they met on Table Manners, saying, “We met on a blind date.” She then confirmed they were set up by a music executive, who worked with Buckley on Wild Rose: “Marc Robinson set us up.”
Freddie works in mental health.
When asked on Table Manners what Freddie does, Buckley replied: “He’s working in mental health. He’s gone back to university to work in mental health.”
She has said Freddie is English.
In the same Table Manners conversation, Buckley confirmed: “He’s English, yeah. He’s from Islington.”
Buckley and Freddie got married at their Norfolk home.
Buckley went into detail about how they ended up in Norfolk on Table Manners: “Friends of ours had moved to Norfolk and bought this old place for like nothing on an auction… and then they showed us this house that we live in which is like [from the] 1500s and falling down…it’s just, it’s a really amazing old house that’s been there forever.”
When asked if that house is where they got married, Buckley answered: “Yeah.”
She has shared very specific details from their wedding.
On Table Manners, Buckley explained a local café called Towpath was part of their special day: “When we first started dating we—because we lived in Dalston—we would go to the Towpath all the time… so they came and did the food for us.”
She also described one of her favorite memories: “One of my favorite memories of the day was like—we—I wanted a keg of Guinness and I definitely wanted their cheese toasties at a certain hour.”
Freddie has stayed out of the public eye due to his career.
