Viewers are curious to know why a new episode of South Park Season 27 won’t premiere on Comedy Central on September 10. The popular animated sitcom centers around four foul-mouthed friends, residing in the fictional town of South Park. They embark on several misadventures, which could be normal or supernatural. As the fourth episode of the latest season aired last week, many want to know how much longer they have to wait for Episode 5.
Here are the details regarding the fifth episode of the popular animated series.
Why South Park Season 27 won’t air another episode tonight
Currently, South Park Season 27 follows a bi-weekly release schedule for new episodes. Therefore, Episode 5 has been skipped this week and will be released on September 17, 2025.
Since its premiere, South Park Season 27 has faced multiple delays due to various reasons. The first delay happened as the premiere episode faced controversy surrounding Trump and the White House. Another delay occurred in the week of August 13 as the show celebrated its 28th anniversary, which pushed Episode 3 on yet another date.
A Deadline report revealed that as the episodes are taking additional time to complete, there has been a delay in their arrival on time on Comedy Central. A source close to South Park producers said, “What they’re doing means this year’s episodes need more time than usual to put together, to finish.” The source further added, “So much happens right now in just one day with Trump. No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push getting it to air, and if that makes the season longer, so be it.”
The source mentioned that though the plans could change, at present, the show sticks to the bi-weekly format. This will make its run conclude around December 10. The previous episode, titled “Wok is Dead,” focuses on Butters, who goes to buy a labubu for his girlfriend’s birthday. However, he faces the harsh reality of tariffs.
