It seems fitting that this year’s Creative Collaborator award recipients, Jon M. Chu, cinematographer Alice Brooks and editor Myron Kerstein, are part of the team who brought “Wicked” and its sequel, “Wicked: For Good,” to the big screen. The film is a story about friendship and Chu, who has known Brooks since their days as film students at USC, says, “It is really even more full-circle to be making a movie like this and explore friendship with my friends.”
“Wicked” is the story of the witches of Oz before “The Wizard of Oz.” Next month, “Wicked: For Good” brings the story to a close as the friendship of Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) is put to the test.
The Creative Collaborators Award will be presented at the Middleburg Film Festival on Oct. 17. The festival runs from Oct. 16–19.
