It’s already been 10 years since we lost Prince, who died on 21 April 2026 of an accidental fentanyl overdose at the age of 57.
To mark the anniversary of the legendary musician’s death, a new single has been released, titled ‘With This Tear’.
“Recorded in 1991 at Paisley Park and newly mixed by Chris James, this track finds Prince in full command, writing, producing, and performing every note,” a description reads on Prince’s official social media channels.

Indeed, Dion’s version of the piano ballad appeared on her 1992 self-titled album.
Reacting to Prince’s rendition, Dion wrote on Instagram: “‘With This Tear’ was a gift from Prince that I will always treasure. I have carried this song with me for so many years. To now hear his version, shared for the very first time, feels truly special. Celine xx…”
According to Prince’s estate, ‘With This Tear’ marks “the beginning of a number of unreleased Prince recordings scheduled for release this year, as part of a never-before-released Prince album project”.
No further details have yet been released.
Elsewhere, Prince made headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that the artist’s estate refused for his music to be included in the Melania film.
Producer Marc Beckman explained that a “lawyer that manages the estate” had got in touch, saying: “Prince would never want his song associated with Donald Trump.”
In our review of Melania, we wrote: “While there could have been a flickering ember of hope that we actually might learn something about the former model from Slovenia who ended up marrying the most anti-immigrant president the US has known, to say that Melania is short on substance is a cruel insult to things that are short on substance.”
We added: “It is a staged puff piece – a cynical attempt by Jeff Bezos to curry favour with Trump and an anti-documentary cash-grab orchestrated by people who only care about money and the furthering of empty mythologies designed to feed the Trump brand. And by the time the film ends with a suspiciously long list of Mrs. Trump’s supposed achievements as First Lady (none of which we actually get to witness), you’ll be too bored to notice – much less want to march for the Trump cause.”
